Field report

How the site changed

From the initial site condition to a clean handoff for the next phase.

Before work

Starting point

The pool occupied most of the usable yard and the surrounding deck had reached the point where repair no longer made sense. Narrow side access meant the equipment route and lawn protection had to be planned before any concrete was broken.

On site

Work completed

The pool was drained, disconnected and opened for machine access. The shell and surrounding concrete were broken in a controlled sequence, separated for disposal, and hauled out over protective access mats before clean fill was placed in compacted lifts.

Clean handoff

Result

The former pool area was brought back to a stable rough grade that sheds water away from the house. The access route was raked clean, leaving the yard ready for the owner’s landscaping plan rather than a buried maintenance problem.

Local planning notes

Scope first

Pool removal planning starts with the shell type, access width, nearby structures and the intended use of the yard. Full removal and partial removal are materially different scopes, so the quote should state what leaves the property, what fill is used and how compaction will be handled.

Local conditions

Thornhill properties can fall within Vaughan or Markham depending on the address, so owners should confirm requirements with the correct municipal office. Tight suburban side yards are common, making gate width and the loading route important parts of an accurate demolition quote.

Permit and approval requirements depend on the property and scope. Confirm them with the appropriate municipality or project professional before work begins.
