Before work
Starting point
Carpet, wood panelling, drywall and a suspended ceiling covered the basement structure. One stair was the only debris route, and a central support post plus low window had to remain protected throughout the strip-out.
On site
Work completed
Containment isolated the stair before ceiling tile, wall finishes and framing were removed in sequence. Carpet and underpad came out separately, and debris was carried in manageable loads rather than stored on the lower level.
Clean handoff
Result
The basement became a clean structural shell with block walls, open floor joists and a swept slab. The support post, stair and window stayed intact, and the open condition made future moisture, insulation and layout decisions easier to assess.
